On a trip paying homage to the birthplace of American sport climbing a few years ago, it was a pleasure to catch up and get some shots of Mike Doyle. Here he is attempting to Spank the Monkey (13d), on the Monkey Face, of course, it’s at Smith Rock in Oregon.
The hillside near the Monkey Face provides great opportunities for fine-tuning the camera position, along with the lens selection, to get the background exactly as wanted.
